Beef Mechado and Mongo IPA

Monday meal...Mechado 'n Mongo IPA...slow braised tomato, lemon, laurel leaf, garlic and onion beef with a savory sauce that has a citrus punch...a traditional Filipino dish inspired by my late Ninong Ruperto who often times had this yummin
ess prepared at their S.F. home when we visited. He was the Godfather and guiding light who helped many Filipino immigrants settle and find jobs in S.F. throughout the 60's and 70's...many thanks to you Ninong Joe...salamat po!

Great summer evening for a TNR (Tuesday Night Ride)...met up with Nelson34 (Robert) and IAmHolland (Newton) who are fellow South Bay Mountain Bike enthusiasts with a penchant for tough climbs and techy and rocky descents. Tonight's feature trail was Rocky Ridge and the challenge was to climb this without putting a foot down on the ground. Robert and Newton were stoked to give the No Dab challenge a try, but Rocky Ridge lived true to it's reputation as a worthy trail nemesis.  Thanks to (http://www.dionridesbikes.com/) for laying down the gauntlet for this challenge on the NorCal board of MTBR.com.  Tonight I did manage to no dab this beast, albeit at a crawling pace, but I'll take this small victory nonetheless.  Couple the small victory with the camaraderie of fellow mountain bikers, treats to a strong summer breeze, sights of numerous deer and turkey and a terrific sunset timed with a fast descent down Rocky Ridge and what you get is an equation for fun, fun, fun!

Belgians and Burgers

Had a hankering for Burgers 'n Beer again! My version is made with lean ground beef, minced onions, chili powder, Spanish paprika, salt and pepper. Two slices of cheese, one Tillamook Cheddar and one Kraft American.
Homemade fries from Russet Potatoes. Duvel Belgians have a light, crisp and refreshing taste!

Beef, it's what's for dinner, mesquite grilled tri-tip.

Brussels and Bacon

Mixed plate

Mesquite grilled tri-tip with agave syrup glazed brussel sprouts w/bacon bits and grilled summer squash, corn and red peppers.  Salad of artisan greens, cherry tomatoes and feta cheese with a fig infused, balsamic reduction dressing.  Stone IPA and Dogfish Head 90 IPA...mmm.

Dogfish Head 90 Minute - super IPA w/balanced hops and a sweeter malty finish with notes of molasses and red cedar.

There is no singletrack at Grant Ranch...trail to Antler Point.

Jason's new Highball 29er

This beer ain't no joke...this beer has a mocha brown head and is a seriously viscous stout with notes of roasted coffee, pine and chocolate.

Sculpin

A consistent go to beer when I can't find Pliny...nicely hopped but not overly so with hints of grapefruit zest on the nose...head is thin and dissipates quickly as does the beer right in my tummy:)

Best Bay Area Burgers

Looking for an outstanding burger here in the bay area and are serious enough to drive a little bit to experience how burgers should be done? Look no further than Godfather's in Belmont, CA. With a family of six and a hankering for great burgers, I decided to take my brood here on our way to CA Academy of Science in San Francisco from San Jose. This pit stop was well worth the drive even as a burger destination itself. I had the "Untouchables" burger with a fiery Jalapeño kick. The "Le Boulanger" sesame bun was crisp and light and the burger was an almost 1/2" think patty of pure Angus moist and beefy savory goodness. This burger was enhanced by a chipotle aioli and fire roasted red pepper punch...the cheese department was handled by a dense layer of melted pepper jack...BAM! I'm a fan! People here are warm and hospitable and handled my children with a welcoming spirit...I'll be back!
